SOOOO Sick

I'm terribly ill. There's a porcupine in my throat. My nose is all stuffy and it's hard to breathe. Whoever invented being sick...sucks!
On the upside, my first graders were really good today. I taught them some "make-shift" sign language and we used it all day, since Mrs. Cotten's voice was "broken".
They really got the hang of it after about two practices. You really underestimate the tenderness of their little hearts sometimes. But they really do just want you to love them. Which I do...so we all win.
I'm so ready for this year to be over - but I'm already feeling the excitement for next year. That's one good thing about being a new teacher - it's easy to see things that I can change and make better for next year. The bad thing is - there's so MANY ideas you want to implement them all, but you can't.
ANYWAY - I was ALSO late for the first time in three years today! I just didn't turn on the alarm last night - I always turn on the alarm! Jeff - of all people- woke me up (if you knew what a hard sleeper he is, you would find that funny). And Catherine called AS I was rolling - or leaping - rather out of bed. It was 7:50. I had to be at school at 7:45.
I think I set the world record for getting dressed and I was at school by the time they finished the pledges. (8:05).
SO - I think I was still asleep for a little while this morning, I have no memory of walking the kids back to class from the gym.
AND our Walk Across Texas team is in first place this week with the most miles and they made us Tooty Ta in front of the whole school.
(Which I didn't mind, only I was TERRIBLY ILL, and late for school). So - that's all. I do have an antibiotic (thanks Catherine) and hopefully it will kick in like...now!

The DANG Gym

Well, I'm on the fad band wagon of dieting and gym going. Never thought I'd be part of that scene, but time, child bearing, and gravity has taken its inevitable toll on this once tiny body of mine. Oh, how the mighty have fallen......
Anyway, I have a very good and faithful friend who tortures herself there with me four times a week. We particularly loath the "leg machine of death" and the "ball of death" (it's that half ball thing on which you do these grueling sit-up/curl exercises). OH - and I couldn't possibly forget the "shoulder press of death".
BUT - on the up-side. We are seeing results. We've lost TWO - count 'em- TWO pounds and have added weight to the quad lift machine thing. We also can kick tushy on the elliptical machines. We did do a "spin class of death" once, and perhaps will again one day. We limped around school for the next week after that one. It's hard to teach first graders when you can't MOVE!
So, we will press on - to the Dang Gym, to do our Dang workout, and lose all this Dang weight and gain some Dang muscles. (The gym really is called the Dang gym, I'm not just being crass)
